    We offer a wide variety of one-on-one training with you and your pet. Each program is specifically tailored to your needs, and we can help with virtually any behavior or training issue with your dog, cat or small animal. We are experienced with such issues as aggression, destructive behaviors, fears and phobias, fighting pets, leash-work, litter-box issues, selecting a new pet, separation anxiety, unruliness, and general training.   • Puppy Socialization & Manners

    This 5-week class is specifically designed for puppies aged 8-18 weeks (at the start of the class). The goals of this course are to help your puppy learn to behave properly in your household, to learn important social skills for interacting with other dogs, and to learn basic obedience commands. Class topics include: establishing leadership and house rules, effective discipline, biting or
    mouthing, jumping, housebreaking, crate-training, chewing, handling, leash-control, handling fears and frustrations, "drop it" or "leave it" commands, preventing aggression, and introduction to basic commands. In addition, puppies will enjoy off-leash socialization. We encourage you to read an open letter to colleagues by Dr. R. K. Anderson, regarding the importance of puppy socialization.   • Basic Training

    This 7-week class is designed to teach your dog basic manners and obedience. Class topics include: sit, down, stay, come, and walk on a loose leash. We also provide tips on basic behavior issues such as jumping, digging, chewing, barking, and housebreaking. This option is perfect for dogs who have never attended formal training, or for owners coming from other styles of training. You will develop a partnership with your dog and enjoy the experience of watching him/her learn. All dogs 5-months and older are welcome to attend and participate.     We offer our Basic Training class which we have tailored exclusively for Greyhounds and Greyhound owners. Our focus is on their special handling/training needs. For more information, please give us a call!

  • Basic Training 2: Getting into Shape

    This 4-week class is designed to help dogs become more proficient at the behaviors covered in Basic Training. We will focus on smoothing out the rough edges in your dog's compliance with your commands. You will learn how to teach your dog to respond to basic commands more quickly, and in distracting environments. This option is perfect as a refresher course for the dogs or for the owners wanting to refine their training skills. All dogs who have completed a Pet Behavior Solutions training course are welcome to participate. Class start dates vary, so call us to enroll.

  • Intermediate Obedience: Preparation for Advanced Training

    This 7-week class is designed for people who want to improve their training skills and teach their dogs new, more advanced commands. Topics include: heel, stand for examination, targeting, long sit and long down, high distraction come and stay, front, and finish. This option is perfect for owners and dogs who enjoy training and would like to progress to advanced level classes. All dogs who have completed a Pet Behavior Solutions Basic Training course are welcome to participate. Classes are offered several times a year by reservation only. Call us to reserve your spot.

  • Advanced Obedience

    This 7-week class is designed for people and dogs who enjoy the sport of obedience training. The class is conducted off-leash. Some class topics include: drop on recall, and introduction to agility training. Please contact us if you have completed the Pet Behavior Solutions Intermediate Obedience class and are interested in this course.

  • Clicks and Tricks

    This 5-week class is designed for people who want to learn to use a variety of training techniques to teach their dogs tricks. Topics include: luring, capturing, free-shaping, chaining, and targeting. You pick the tricks! All dogs aged 5-months and older are welcome to participate. You do not need to attend Basic Training to attend this class. Clicks and Tricks is offered several times each year - reserve a spot for you and your dog today!

  • Leash Manners - Leash Walking for the Real World

    This 5-week program is designed to teach your dog to walk nicely on a leash! Often, the instruction and practice provided in Basic Training is just not enough! You will get the immediate control you need without having to use force or corrections! Topics include: Check in, long line training, exploration walking, traffic walking and heel. This option is perfect for people wanting more instruction and practice with loose leash walking. All dogs 5-months and older who have completed a Pet Behavior Solutions Basic or Puppy Training Class are welcome to participate. It is essential that you have the necessary "handler" skills before beginning this class. Call for scheduling availability.

  • Social Skills - for Anti-Social Dogs

    This 5 session private program is designed for dogs who react poorly toward other dogs when on a leash. (Growling, barking, lunging, etc.) The goal of this program is to teach your dog to pay more attention to you and to relax in the presence of other dogs. It IS possible to teach your dog how to behave WITHOUT physically correcting him. This program will strengthen the bond between you and your dog! Lessons are held at a variety of locations to allow for practice in the presence of other dogs. Each case must be evaluated for suitability for this program. Please call for more information.

  • Animal-Assisted Therapy Preparation

    We offer lessons designed for owners wishing to train their pets (dogs, cats, and other animals) for animal-assisted therapy. We focus on preparing you and your pet for the Delta Pet Partners Skills and Aptitude Test. Dogs who successfully complete this program will be eligible for A.K.C. Canine Good Citizen testing.   • Low-cost Behavior Clinics

    We offer 1-hour appointments with a behaviorist at a discounted rate for some behavior issues. A referral is required for this service. Please call to see if you may qualify for this clinic.

  • Rescue and Pet-Picking Services

    If you are a shelter or rescue organization, Pet Behavior Solutions offers classes and evaluations at a discounted rate. Please contact us for information.
